The 400-person capacity Bottom Line, located on W. 4th Street and Mercer in the Village, was one of the city’s best venues, and a step up in respectability for Patti and the band which was firing on all cylinders as a result of a relentless year in promoting their acclaimed debut album Horses. A sell-out house triggered a third show to be added at 2:00am, a milestone that stands as a valid measure of Patti’s growing popularity in New York at the time and as the revered and iconic figurehead she would become.
