Once upon a time in a place called Canvey Island. Four barm pots put a band together that was to change the landscape of British music forever.
They were Wilko Johnson, Lee Brilleaux, Sparko and Big Figure.
The band was called Dr. Feelgood.
Together they cut a swathe through the music scene of the mid seventies rudely shoving prog rock pretensions aside with an uncompromising stripped down sound and stage act that was second to none.
In 1976 they topped the album chart with the live record of that act - "Stupidity." Now some fifty years later the faces may have changed but the songs and presentation have not. That self same band is still out there delivering their unique brand of high octane Thames delta R&B.
"Down By The Jett" written with the co-operation of the band members both past and present, tells the story of a unique band which came from a unique place; Canvey Island.
They were and always will be Dr. Feelgood
"The Greatest local band in the world."
