It speaks volumes that, back in 1977, Journey's original four-piece line-up of Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, Ross Valory and Aynsley Dunbar had been issued with an ultimatum by their record company: 'get a lead singer or get dropped'. Steve Perry was that missing link, and Journey would never look back. With inspirational platters like Infinity (1978), Evolution (1979), Escape (1981) and the farewell Raised On Radio (1986), Journey almost single-handedly changed the face of American hard rock music, selling some 35 million albums in the process. Their appearance at the Palladium, New York on the first US leg of the tour was a prime opportunity to sell their new album Infinity, and their new frontman who claims sovereignty here with a stunning set, announcing a change in sound, style and substance
