RELEASED 19/04/24
A year after dissolving perhaps the most successful jazz quartet of all time, Dave Brubeck returned to the road with a new trio and special guest, Gerry Mulligan. After recording two albums for Columbia, the new ensemble toured on and off for several years showcasing the virtuosity of all four players. Special mention goes to drummer Alan Dawson, a unique talent at the kit and the man who, as a teacher, brought a young Tony Williams’ abilities to the boil.
Performed at the Newport Jazz Festival, Newport RI, on July 5, 1969 and broadcast by WKCR-FM radio.
Gerry Mulligan - baritone saxophone; Dave Brubeck - piano; Jack Six - bass; Alan Dawson - drums, percussion
