Charley Pride is one of the greatest American country artists and guitarists, regarded as the 'Gentleman of Country,' a man full of joy with a peaceful heart. He had a remarkable career. The black singer was able to conquer a dominantly white music genre and won over the fans with his comfortable demeanour and soft baritone. Charley Pride had many notable achievements. His greatest musical successes came between 1961 and 1971 when he became the best-selling performer for RCA Records since Elvis Presley. During this time he had eight singles reach No.1 on the US Country Charts.
