Buddy Holly was born Charlie Hardin Holley in Lubbock, Texas, and from his early childhood was nicknamed 'Buddy'.
Buddy was such a central and pioneering figure figure of Rock 'n' Roll that John Lennon and Paul McCartney cited him as one of their main influences. Keith Richards said 'Buddy passed it on via The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.'
Big names such as Bob Dylan, Elton John, The Clash and Eric Clapton considered Buddy as having a great influence on their musical careers. Bobby Vee, Bruce Springsteen and even The Grateful Dead were also hugely influenced by him.
Holly's untimely death (known as 'The Day Music Died') even inspired Don McLean's ballad American Pie.
Buddy toured in 1958, playing 50 shows in 25 days. He never toured Ireland and yet still is one of the most popular Rock 'n' Roll artists there.
Platinum Music Ireland proudly presents twenty timeless, classic tracks, pressed on heavyweight 180g vinyl.
